Character Development and Student Achievement

National discussions on the delivery of quality public education have focused on school models, teacher effectiveness, high stakes testing, accountability, and compensation models. A key missing element in this conversation, however, is the impact of character development on student achievement. To bring this discussion to the forefront, Georgetown University and the Chavez Schools hosted a distinguished panel of school leaders and education policy makers to discuss the role schools can play in shaping and influencing character and the impact this has on student achievement.
